An unlikely environmentalist, the Indian Paper Makers Association (Ipma), has offered to reforest 2 million hectares of degraded forestlands. Responding to the latest official figures which show India's forest cover reduced by 5,500 sq km during 1997, Ipma has offered to work jointly with the Government in a nation-wide effort to reforest India's rapidly degrading forestlands.
