Irrigation facility extended to 11 lakh hectare area

Water Resources and Higher Education Minister Anup Mishra has said that 11 lakh additional area has been brought under irrigation during last four and a half years in the state. This is a remarkable achievement for the state government. Anup Mishra was addressing a function which was held for laying foundation stones of two irrigation projects with an estimated cost of Rs three crore at Dongar Gaon, 30 kilometres from Indore yesterday. The function was presided over by Public Works Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. MLA Manoj Patel, Indore Premier Cooperative Bank chairman Kailash Patidar and Forest Development Corporation Chairman Rajendra Harshwal were present as special guests. With the completion of these two irrigation projects additional 325 hectare irrigation facility would be available in the district. Water Resources Minister Anup Mishra said that the state government has proved true its promise to provide adequate water for irrigation. The budget for irrigation was earlier Rs 4500 crore whereas the present government has increased it to Rs 3,500 crore. Anup Mishra announced Rs 20 lakh for construction of road in Bhagwan Parsuram's birth place Janapav. Presiding over the function, Public Works Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that works for civic amenities including roads, water and electricity are being undertaken in the state with a rapid pace. He said that irrigation facility is the lifeline for farmers and therefore, its extension is our first priority. The programme was also addressed by MLA Manoj Patel, Kailash Patidar, Gopal Singh Choudhary and President of Janpad Panchayat Sanver Vishnu Prasad Shukla. Villagers, Panchs and Sarpanchs were present at the function in large number.
