Jal Board to spend Rs 500 cr

The Delhi Jal Board(DJB) has decided to spend Rs 500 crore on various water projects. Once completed, the parched Capital would have some hope of getting an adequate supply of water. Besides this, Rs 249 crore for sewerage schemes have been allocated out of a total plan outlay of Rs 831 crore in the annual Water Budget. Approving the Budget 2006-07, DJB chairman and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said, "We have made a provision of Rs 831.80 crore for 2006-07. Out of this, Rs 498.45 crore is for water and Rs 249.55 crore for sewerage schemes."
