KOLKATA, 27 Sept: The state government today declared Jalpaiguri and Bankura as e-district after the chief minister inaugurated the project through which citizens can get various services through online submission of forms and delivery of certificates. The chief minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, inaugurated the citizen service kiosks through video-conferencing. At present, the citizens will apply and get certificates such as income and domicile, pensions, licenses, ICDS, RTI and public grievance online. Various caste certificates and land related services will be also offered in a few days time. The state IT minister, Mr Debesh Das promised that the the Centre-sponsored scheme will extended to other districts as well. Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said that the project would ease the problems faced by the public who have to make several rounds of government service before their requirements are met.
