Following High Court orders, the MCD has begun clearing the area around the Jama Masjid. But the real test may be on Tuesday morning, when the MCD plans to demolish more than 300 illegal structures in the Indira Market, Coat Market and Fish Market. The MCD warned shopkeepers in the area today that if they do not remove their chhajjas (roofs), the shops will be demolished. Shopkeepers were made to remove their goods by the police accompanying MCD officials.
