Nagaland Chief Minister S C Jamir today emphasized the need for exploiting natural resources for setting up a forest-based economy, especially in the rural areas. The State had already implemented various afforestation programmes to control Jhum cultivation and was able to manage the tree covered areas. The government also approved numerous working schemes based on the principles of conservation and sustainable development of forest resources.
