Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa denied charges that the poor would not benefit from the Government's Wasteland Reclamation Project. Responding to the apprehensions of CPI leader Palanichamy and CPM MLA Mahendran, Jayalalithaa told the Assembly that small and poor farmers could benefit if they formed a Federation of Self-Help Groups for Wasteland Development.
