The steadily growing grip of Naxalities in the newly formed State of Jharkhand is being felt by the tourism sector, which has vast potential to attract tourists. The tourism sector of the State has been dearly affected as all the important tourist places are under the grip of banned outlawed groups. The dense Saranda forest is located in West, East Singhbhumi and Chaibasa districts situated on the bordering areas of Orissa and Jharkhand was once a major attraction for tourists. The forest is considered to be the king of Sal trees in India. Other tourist spots like Betla forest falls under Palamu district where a tiger reserve is located and is completely under the grip of People's War Group (PWG) and the MCC.
