J&K govt launches mobile sanitation vehicles in Jammu

In a people-friendly initiative, Jammu and Kashmir Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora today launched mobile sanitation vehicles (MSVs) and road sprinkling trucks in Jammu city.
The sanitation vehicles are fully equipped with sanitary equipment and each vehicle has a team of five 'safai karamcharis' to attend to the grievances of the citizens.
The water tankers which are equipped with road sprinkling system have been designed to maintain cleanliness of roads in inner city areas.
The progress of work of the "View Point" facing the Tawi river being developed at the cost of Rs 3.80 lakh was also reviewed and necessary instructions were given on spot to beautify the gateway to the Jammu city.
Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner Kiran Wattal told the minister that the civic body had purchased two road sprinkling tankers at the cost of Rs 9.20 lakh. In respect of green cover, Rs 2.50 lakh has been spent. The commissioner said a toll free number to address the complaints of citizens round the clock would be operational soon.
The minister asked Jammu Municipal Corporation officials to gear up for providing better civic facilities to the people. He said old Jammu City needs special attention in regards to cleanliness.
