In what has been described as a major breakthrough by the Mufti Muhammad government, the Indian Banks' Association has decided to provide Jammu and Kashmir with a loan of Rs 1,000 crores on easy terms for the fund-starved Baglihar hydel project on Chenab river. The project, which on completion will generate more than 450 MWs of electricity, is being executed in state sector.
