Customs and forestry officials plan to work more closely together in monitoring log movements in the North of Thailand in a bid to end illegal tree felling. The will cooperate in supervising the importation and transport of logs and in establishing where the logs are to be processed, a Customs Department official said. Border entry points must be inspected by the Forestry Department before the passage of imported logs can be approved by the Customs Department.
