The much-hyped National Urban Renewal Mission, aimed at changing the look of seven mega-cities and 28 cities, will be getting all of Rs 5,500 crore as budgetary support. Of this, Rs 3,500 crore would go to the Urban Development Ministry to kickstart its National Mission Urban Infrastructure Development and Rs 2,000 crore to the Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation scheme to provide basic services to the poor.
