President APJ Abdul Kalam advocated early implementation of the Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) project to bridge the rural-urban divide in the country. The project envisages establishing of integrated connectivities in rural India in terms of providing basic infrastructure. At the valediction of centenary celebrations of northern India apex chamber PHDCCI, Dr Kalam said that public-private partnerships such as PURA could help the country achieve status of a developed nation by the year 2020.
