The BG Express run between Guwahati and Dimapur, has of late, become safe means of surreptitious transportation of illegal timber by smugglers to Dimapur with alleged connivance and assistance of NF Railway employees in aftermath of closure of all saw mills in Karbi Anglong following the Supreme Court's ban on tree-felling. On the night of Friday last, the Forest officials of Central Range and Protection Range, in Karbi Anglong West Division, during a patrolling in Doldoli area, seized 14 teak logs as they were being loaded into one of the coaches of the 5665 UP BG Express in the middle of the forest area.
