Karnataka HC to authorities- Ensure clean drinking water supply to people of Pavagada

BENGALURU:The Karnataka high court has directed the various departments to ensure supply of clean drinking water to people of the border taluk of Pavagada, which is severely affected by a high fluoride content in the ground water. A division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee gave this direction while disposing off a PIL filed by D A Amarnath. As per the status report submitted by the authorities, out of the 178 water purification plants(WPP) in the taluk 145 are successfully running and 3 are defunct. Among the rest, 14 are affected by low voltage problem, 2 have no power supply, 4 having raw water problem, 10 plants wherein shelter is ready and electrification and installation under progress .
