Andhra's long and agonising wait for the Krishna river waters is over. Nature has overcome political factors, forcing the Karnataka Government to open the gates of the massive Almatti Dam. It is almost after a gap of three years that Krishna water has crossed the Almatti and Narayanpur dams of Karnataka to reach Andhra Pradesh.
Officials in the irrigation department in Hyderabad have confirmed that the Krishna started to flow into the state boundaries a day after Karnataka officials opened 13 of the 26 sluice gates of the Almatti dam in Bijapur district.
