Karunanidhi seeks Centre's support for projects

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and presented an eight-point memorandum seeking the Centre's full support and financial assistance for some major infrastructure projects and development schemes proposed for execution in the State. The projects to be taken up for implementation by the DMK regime pertain to infrastructure sectors such as ametro rail system for Chennai, elevated express highways to the Chennai port, water supply for two fluoride-affected districts, expansion of four minor airports and construction of the Colachel port as a transhipment hub, besides additional allocation of kerosene for the public distribution system.
