As many as 50,000 fruit and ornamental trees will be planted across the Kashmir Valley as part of the "Green Campaign" launched by the Army, in partnership with the state forest department in an attempt to restore its pristine glory. Another 10,000 chinar trees are being planted by the state police force at its four spacious police-lines in and outside Srinagar. The police have already planted 5,000 saplings of various species at different places.
