Kerala loses top place in literacy

Kerala has to part with one of its most-cherishedepithets--being the highest literate state in the country-- which it has held proudly for decades, if a recent survey under the guidelines of Unesco is an indication. According to the survey conducted by organisation under the Department of Statistics, Kerala has been pushed down to the fourth spot with 93 per cent in the literacy rate.
