The Tamil Nadu Green Movement has expressed concern over a Kerala proposal to construct a minor irrigation weir at Mukkali in Attappady to divert water for irrigation in the Mannarkad area. The proposal, originally notified in September 1997, mentioned diversion of a "stream" without mentioning that it was the Bhavani river, the TNGM joint secretary said.
