Kerala to get Rs 152 cr for afforestation

The World Bank has committed most of the funds for a programme of comprehensive afforestation being planned by the Kerala Government and envisaging an outlay of Rs. 183 crores. The first major part of the project to be implemented in the State in the post-Pokhran phase with oodles of foreign funds, the Kerala Afforestation Project will receive as much as Rs. 152 crores from the World Bank which is repayable as half-yearly instalments spread over a period of 25 years starting 2008 AD.
