Kerala`s child-friendly image fades

A combination of factors, including migration and increase in the number of urban slums is playing havoc with Kerala's much-publicised child-friendly image. Even though the infant mortality rate here is the lowest in the country, the scenario of child and adolescent health is dipping lower. The immunisation rate has come down to 79 per cent with an equal fall in the Pulse Polio programme, posing a threat to the health scene in the state.
