It has come to light that the Ambikanu forest surroundings in Karnataka have been extensively encroached upon and the precious trees there have been looted. Trees worth several lakhs have been destroyed and the cultivation of the cuscus grass and lemon grass was undertaken on the ground which i rendered bare. As per one estimate five thousand precious trees have already been destroyed and lemon grass had been planted in Byndoor by persons originally from Kerala
