While strict rules govern environment conditions in the workplace, children are often forced to sit on uncomfortable chairs, use outside toilets and eat their lunch in unhygienic conditions. The National Council for Children of Denmark is now demanding that laws governing health and safety in the workplace be extended to include schools and other children's institutions, and has issued a suggestion that a committee be set up to examine how the current rules can be upgraded and tightened.
