And India, like many other countries, is bearing the brunt of this pesticide over use. Pesticide consumption in Indian Agriculture has been on the rise for the last 10 to 15 years. Therefore, it is not surprising that farmers of agriculturally prosperous states are slowly but surely becoming victims of these dirty chemicals. In fact, many pesticides that are banned in developing countries are still used in India. In the last few years, cotton farmers of Andhra Pradesh have paid the price of pursuing pesticide dependent agricultural systems. Many have died due to exposure to pesticides while spraying to kill bollworms that devastate their crops.
