If Mumbai hopes to become Shanghai, Kochi can definitely dream of at least becoming Mumbai. The Kochi makeover is no pipe dream. With a view to converting the city into a teeming metropolis dotted with scores of imposing skyscrapers by 2020, the GCDA and the Corporation are convening two separate meetings to identify factors that should go into the new structural plan for Kochi. While the GCDA chairman has convened a meeting of builders, architects and experts on December 13, the Mayor is meeting planning managers on December 20 to prepare a route map for Kochi makeover.
