The first ever Human Development Report prepared for Karnataka using the latest methodology adopted by the United Nation's Development Programme(UNDP) show that north Karnataka districts of Belgaum, Uttara Kannada and Dharwad fare better than southern districts of Mysore, Mandya and Kolar in human development.
