Kodagu Zilla Panchayat KDP meeting resolved to constitute a committee to probe into the alleged misappropriation in the purchase of banners and information boards which were installed in three taluks under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) here on Wednesday. The decision was taken at a meeting held under the presidentship of ZP President V M Vijaya. The issue was raised by Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Anitha Kanjithanda. She said there was no transparency in the purchase of banners and information board which have been installed in various Gram Panchayat limits in the district to provide information to the public. The decision on tender process for the purchase of banners was not brought to the notice of elected representatives and was taken at the taluk panchayat level. In fact, the contract for installing information board was given to Vikas Associates without calling for a tender. No Taluk Panchayat meetings have taken a decision on the same, she added.
