In a new twist to the vexed question of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), according to Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat is likely to call the promoters of the three notified SEZs to explore the possibility of their setting up any other viable industrial projects (other than SEZs) on the land they have been allotted by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). It appears that Union Minister for Commerce Kamal Nath is anxious that the Goa government should reach some compromise solution with these large business houses. It is now clear that the SEZ promoters are more interested in holding on to the land they have got at bargain-basement prices, rather than in actually setting up SEZs. That is why most of them asked for
