In a significant development in the tribal belt land transfer scam, the Public Accounts Committee of Assam State Assembly has decided to go for spot verification in the Sonapur Revenue Circle, on the outskirts of the city on May 29. The Committee will verify the matter and hold discussions with the locals on the transfer of land under the tribal belt and block. Following the reportage in a section of the media that Government officials were reportedly involved in the transferring of land in tribal belts to non-tribals in the Dimoria area, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had ordered an inquiry into the case. Additional Chief Secretary S Kabilan was assigned the task of the investigations.
