Large scale illegal felling of timber at Budni in Bhopal threatens to lay the forests bare and if allowed to continue unchecked could cause irreversible damage to the environment. Budni, which lies between Bhopal and Hoshangabad is home to thousands of teak and palash trees which are being whittled away at an alarming rate by a nefarious timber mafia hand-in-glove with forest department officials.
