The residents of Khawaja Yarbal, Saida Kadal in the interior of the Dal Lake today resisted the demolition drive of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) to demolish the bridge. Although, the LAWDA officials were able to demolish half of the bridge they had to move back as the women of the area assembled on half the demolished bridge. This morning the LAWDA officials accompanied by a huge posse of police higher ups appeared in the Khawaja Yarbal area and started demolishing the bridge. Once they started the whole process the people came out of their houses and resisted the move of demolishing the bridge.
