Despite Surplus Showers, The Much-Hyped Rainwater Harvesting System Fails To Make Any Headway In City

Lucknow: Despite a heavy monsoon this year, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has failed to reap its benefits. All plans of the authority on the installation of rain water harvesting (RWH) plants in the city have seen no action so far.
According to the Met department, the state capital has witnessed one of the heaviest rainfall in the past three decades this season, good enough to improve the depleting ground water situation here. But the LDA has failed to take any advantage of this.
Sample this: LDA, in June this year, issued over 700 notices to various buildings for not installing the RWH plants and warned of sealing such buildings. In a subsequent action, only two buildings in Janakipuram were sealed. That was all.
