The government is on the verge of a further dose of the liberalisation in the mining sector, with Union Minister for Mines Naveen Patnaik clearing a reform package, which includes deletion of limestone from Part C of Schedule 1 of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation and Development) Act (MMRD), and introduction of reconnaissance permits for explorations.
