Former deputy chief minister Stephen Marandi today promised that 135 villages in his district would celebrate a brighter Diwali, with electricity and electric bulbs reaching every household in their area by the time of the festival.
Earlier, the leader had initiated measures to provide electricity to consumers in his constituency, Dumka, from where he was elected as an MLA for 25 years.
Marandi who held a marathon meeting with local Jharkhand State Electricity Board staff on October 1, informed news persons that officials of NTPC and KAC were also a part of the discussions.
The staff at the two corporations, apparently, assured the leader of bringing in electricity to 135 villages before this Diwali under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana.
Marandi told The Telegraph that the NTPC and KAC have submitted a list of 135 villages to the Dumka circle officer of the JSEB.
