After waiting for 81 days, around 50 locals of Kalanki and Soaltee Mode decided to protest against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Keshav Sthapit for demolishing infrastructure without any follow up. In the name of road expansion project, Mayor Sthapit, without any notice, had demolished around 50 houses and affected 200 house-owners living along the Kalanki-Soaltee Mode road on December 13, 2003.
