The most "powerful" green in the city -- Lodhi Gardens -- just got some much needed funds. With the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) signing a memorandum of understanding with the steel major SAIL for conservation of monuments within the garden on Tuesday, the best kept grassy patch in Lutyens' Delhi is in for some changes at least for its buildings. While the details of the plan have not been worked out, ASI is hoping that the money that SAIL has promised for tombs in the garden as part of the National Culture Fund (NCF) will go a long way to supplement their budget for them. "ASI has to work out these details about what work needs to be done to monuments in the garden with the committee. At the moment, SAIL has promised about a Rs. 1 crore for these monuments," said ASI director-general C. Babu Rajeev.
