The Maharashtra government is yet to release the State's share of water to the Bheema river despite the Supreme Court's interim order. The Maharashtra government is claiming that there is no water in the Ujini dam to avoid the release of water. At the same time, it is trying to build irrigation projects to utilise more than its share of water from the Ujini dam. According to the Bachawat Award on sharing of water, Maharashtra has the right to use 95 tmc of water from the river. But the Maharashtra government, without the permission of the Central Water Commission, has constructed an illegal irrigation project to divert water from the Ujini dam to Seena river.
