The Brahmaputra-Jamuna river system on Sunday kept swelling upstream, said the flood forecasting and warning centre. The swelling is likely to continue for the next 72 hours. The Ganges-Padma river system was also swelling on Sunday at a slow place, inundating more areas, the warning centre said. The centre said flooding in Munshiganj, Manikganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, and at Dohar and Nawabganj in Dhaka would worsen slowly in a couple of days. Rivers kept swelling at 38 points, out of the 73 monitoring points. They flowed above danger mark at seven points. The rivers on Saturday had swelled at 37 points and flowed above danger mark at six points. The centre said water level in the Padma-Jamuna confluence at Goalanda and Bhagyakul was likely to keep rising at a moderate pace for three to four days. The Kangsa on Sunday flowed 70 centimetres above danger mark at Jariajhanjail in Netrakona, the Surma 61 centimetres above at Sunamganj, the Padma 39 centimetres above at Bhagyakul and 36 centimetres above at Goalanda. One hundred and twenty of the erosion-hit families at Shridharnagar and Ghior have taken shelter on the Dhaka
