Mumbai, September 5 Plagued with the increasing malaria cases in the city, with highest numbers observed in urban Maharashtra, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to step up the surveillance activities and anti-malaria measures.
After a high incidence rate in mid-80s, there has been a recurrence of the malaria virus in Mumbai in the last couple of years. BMC health officials said that the high malaria figures were a result of the increase in construction sites that are avenues for mosquito breeding.
