A district council meeting of the Kerala Forest Protective Staff Association (KFPSA) held here on Tuesday expressed concern over the increasing human-wildlife conflict in Wayanad district. The government was yet to take any positive measures to tackle the issue, the association said. As the voluntary relocation project being executed by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest inside the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary was the effective measure to solve the issue to a certain extent, the government should expedite measures to complete the voluntary relocation project by providing attractive compensation to the settlers. Since the power fence and trenches are proving to be inefficient, the government should consider constructing fences using discarded rails of the Railways . M. Manoharan, State secretary, KFPSA, presided over the meeting.
