LUCKNOW: The quality of forest areas in Uttar Pradesh is on the wane. A survey taken up by forest officials on a 10,000 hectare area of reserve forest land in the state has acted as an eye-opener on how fast the deterioration is setting in.
At least 11,000 cattle were found grazing everyday on 10,000 hectare of North Kheri forest. Besides, close to 400 men who walked in with their cattle and came out with headloads of fodder, not less than 2,500 bundles, added to the pressure. The officials shared that since the survey was taken up at just one place the number was less.
