The enchanting monuments of Mandu and stoneage rock shelters and paintings of Bhimbetka in the State (M. P.) will shortly appear on the World Heritage list of UNESCO. A formal intimation of this from International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), a wing of UNESCO, is expected any day. As and when it happens, Madhya Pradesh will become the only state in the country to have as many as four sites,including Khajuraho and Sanchi apart from these two, to figure in the World Heritage list.
