The anti-endosulfan campaigners from the rural areas of the district took out a march to the Collectorate here on Monday demanding the immediate intervention of the government to rehabilitate victims of the pesticide. Inaugurating the march, former Health Minister P. Sankaran said the Chief Minister should announce a special financial package based on the District Collector's report on the victims in and around the Perambra Plantation Corporation. It was already proved that the endosulfan was used in several farms in the Perambra region, he said. Mr. Sankaran said the government should not wait for the completion of another study report to act on the issue. “Union and State Ministers are very much convinced of the situation as several of them have personally visited the spot,” he said. Children claimed to be the victims of endosulfan were brought to the spot in ambulances to invite the attention of the authorities. District Collector P.B. Salim, who visited the campaigners, promised support to address the issue. He also received a memorandum submitted by them.
