Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) has pulled off a coup of sorts by selling 32,582 units in May, 1999, which is slightly higher than the 30,961 units sold in April, 1999. This despite the fact that Maruti was unable to sell in the national capital region (NCR). "We were able to push sales by accelerating marketing efforts in the non-NCR regions. There is a demand out there that we were able to meet," MUL chief general manager (marketing and sales) Rohtash Mal told The Economic Times.
