The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), while hiking the water tariff to Rs. 150 per month had reduced it to Rs. 30 per month for the poor. But so far only 805 poor have received the benefit of concessional rates. According to BMC records there are more than 31,500 people in the city who are living below the poverty line and entitled for concessional rates of water tax But they are paying tax at full rate.
