The municipal corporation is planning to take up the rehabilitaiton of slum dwellers in a big way in the coming financial year. Presenting budget proposals for 1998-99 on Friday, commissioner V K Duggal said MCD has already initiated action for relocation of about 3,500 families living in jhuggi-jhonpri colonies from the Southern Ridge area.
