The Municipal Corporation of Delhi assured the Supreme Court that financial constraints would not come in the way of construction of a modern slaughter house at Ghazipur in East Delhi so that it was completed before the June 30 deadline fixed by the Court. A three-Judge Bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhan, Justice S.B. Sinha and Justice A.K. Mathur last week had pulled up the MCD for not speeding up the construction despite an assurance given to the Court. Not satisfied with the progress, the Court told the MCD that it would monitor the construction work. On Tuesday the MCD assured the Bench that it would sanction the funds, which would be available immediately.
