The National Forest Fire Control Committee yesterday announced measures to combat forest fires in the coming dry season. It declared February 24 an annual Forest Fire Smog-Free Day and set up provincial task forces to ensure all concerned agencies were up to the task in alerting the public of the danger. Experts have warned that this year's forest fires would be more frequent and intense than last year's as piles of tinder dry leaves left behind by last year's small fires in most of the country's forests could easily be ignited.
