The Central government had no business to scuttle the visit of the World Commission on Dams when the Madhya Pradesh Government had no objections since the proposed public hearing was to be held in Bhopal, said Ms Medha Patkar, leader of the Narmada Bachao Andolan and one of the 12 commissioners on the recently constituted WCD. The South Asia hearing was to include other dams, apart from the Sardar Sarovar Project, several dams on rivers Terhi, Godavari, Krishna, Damodar Valley, Koyna, Bisalpur, Periyar and Kollar. "In fact, we had received 150 petitions on different dams," said Ms Patkar.
